Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great ammo but 7 rounds I have bought this ammo before but have never seen this. I know it is not much but 7 rounds out of the 1000 had significant dents in the brass. I consider these unusable, because I am not sure what kind of pressures would be created if fired. There is less volumn internally, and with the same powder charge, this will produce higher pressures. The dents are from a pea size to two pea sizes in length. The dents are in the neck where the tapper begins, and looks like they tried to smooth them out. This not only thins out the brass but now creates a weak point. If I was reloading, these would have been junked.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ammo I shot four different brands of ammo and Independence A.R. 5.56 shoot the tightest group. I was shooting a 16 inch 1x7 twist rate barrel

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable, ammo I have purchased this ammo several times. Never have had a problem and its seems to be some of the best value around for feeding my Rock River M4

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best deal ever I bought these rounds and found them to shoot better than expected. Preparing to coyote hunt, we sighted in a new scope on my Bushmaster and at 100 yards we were getting dime groups. Not bad at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Federal Independence Ammo I've shot only a small number of the Federal Independence AR 5.56mm x 45 55gr FMJ ammo but this Israeli manufactured ammo performed flawlessly in my Sig M400. No failures to feed, fire or eject. This seems to be a clean burning ammo as well. Very satisfied with my purchase. Lightening fast service from Natchez SS as always.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 3 Blown primers in 500 rounds Would not recommend this ammo, as we had several blown primers in 500 rounds. No other ammo in that rifle has resulted in that problem. In fact I've never had a full blown primer separation in decades of shooting. Price was fine, but the primer anvils and cups jam an AR right up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flawless performance. I have shot several thousand rounds of the Federal 5.56 through 3 different rifles over the last year and have not had a single issue. This is easily one of the best "non-budget busting" factory rounds out there due to the price Natchezz is currently selling it for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value ! Just short of going to a local ammo shop that sells a lot of reloaded ammunition, this Federal-Independence is a low cost, high quality alternative that provides a low cost solution to your AR shooting needs.

What's the difference between this and M193?

Asked by: rtr35
From what I have read (mind you on the internet) the Independence is made by Israeli Military Industries for Federal. The ammo runs a little hotter than Federal M193 (~70fps) and some claim tighter groups. It also might have a thinner jacket than Federal's. Also some sites have said it runs better in "mil spec" rifles due to the higher velocities. Hope that helps... I looked it up cause I wanted to save some $$. I really like it in my M&P15... 1000 rounds 0 issues.
