Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works fantastic in my Ruger! I shot the Winchester ammo last June in another rifle and it did fine. But I also saw where the American Eagle was superior in the Ruger so when Natchez had it for sale, I bought it. It performed flawlessly and was extremely accurate in my Ruger 77.I also shot some Winchester ammo and it wasn't nearly as good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This ammo is as accurate I have used this ammo to check for the tightest groups at 100 yards using several different brands of 17 WSM. It shoots as small of groups as any of the other brands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ammo at affordable price! This ammo is fast and accurate. Will be buying more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Woodchucks Beware! More accurate in my Savage B-Mag. than Winchester brand, although neither is stellar. 100 yd. groups average 1.5" vertical and .75" horizontal. Hits on woodchucks at 200 yds. are routine and instantly fatal (usually). At 250 yds. this little bullet has lost enough velocity and energy to make quick kills the exception rather than the rule. A wicked little cartridge out to 200 yds. on a woodchuck!

Is there a difference between .17 WSM and .17 HMR? Are they interchangeable?

Asked by: lawdog13
The 17WSM is 17 Winchester Short Mag. 17HMR is 17 Hornady Magnum Rimfire. The brass case for this round is roughly 50% thicker than the 17HMR and the max average internal pressure is 33,000 psi, versus the 17 HMR's 26,000 psi. They are not interchangeable.
