Details & Specs

The Hornady Hot Tub takes sonic cleaning to a whole new level. Featuring a 9 liter capacity, the Hot Tub is long enough to accommodate and clean a 16 inch AR-15 upper. In addition to having 4 transducers, there is also a heating element that enhances cleaning action, which is especially useful when cleaning gun parts. Combined with One Shot Sonic Clean solution, the microjet action of the Hornady Hot Tub removes carbon residue and other debris from cartridge cases, gun parts and other metal equipment.

Unlike traditional tumblers, sonic cleaners can clean internal and external surfaces of cartridge cases and primer pockets. One 1.7 quart inner tank comes with the unit and can be used in the main tank for cleaning multiple smaller batches or to use separate solutions at the same time. Additional inner tanks can be purchased separately. Hanging cords have been integrated into the design to allow large objects to take full advantage of the ultrasonic energy. Additionally, the Hot Tub features integrated drain pans in the lids, a small parts basket, a degas function and 5 temperature settings from 100-140 degrees F.

Hot Tub main tank dimensions:

  • (9 Liters / 2.3 Gallons) 25.5" x 7.0" x 4"

Internal Divider Tank dimensions (sold separately Natchez item PC150209):

  • 6.7" x 4.7" x 3.2" (1.6 Liters / 1.7 Quarts)
Reviews
Hornady Hot Tub 9L Sonic Cleaner - 110 V is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Sonic Cleaner is Awesome !! I've had this about a month now and used it 5 times. I can not say anything bad with Hornady's 9Lt. Sonic Cleaner. It's easy to use and drain when done, and has easy controls for time and heating. So far I've cleaned every piece of brass I have. After brass cleaning I've also used is for metal cleaning. Even for just dropping a Glock into it and when done with that a quick blast of compressed air from a can to blow out any left over drops of moisture, and its ready to rock & roll again. This is a bargain at the standard price....but at sale price....it's even better!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works but not impressed I purchased this hoping it would help in the cleaning of pistol barrels and other gun parts. I have run chrome and mil spec BCG through it. The chrome BCG came out great but I would have expected that. The mil spec still required a considerable amount of scraping. I used it with heat but not high heat so I may have to play with that more. The pistol barrels got mixed result and did not get to the level of clean I was hoping for. I have only used the Hornady parts clearer which is expensive. May try to find an alternative to it that hopefully works better for the price. I have run several thousand cases thought it and it works ok. Definitely more work that just throwing them in a tumbler. I got the Hornady brass cleaner and it works but it too is expensive. I have experimented with water, dish soap, and Lemi shine and it works just as good if not better and at fraction of the price. I fact it is cheap enough to just throw the mix out after your done than it is to strain it to try and save it. The user manual says it is not recommended to use heat with brass but I am finding it will not clean as well. So I used the lowest 2 heat setting and it cleans much better and so far I have had no issues. The baskets are a pain. The slotted basket requires you to load the whole thing with one kind of cleaner and changing solutions is a pain. The metal one is too small. I purchased a stainless steel mud pan the kind guys that do drywall use to put mud in to tape drywall. It is the right size to hold the same amount of cases as the basket, but allows you to just put water in the bottom. When the cycle is finished you can just lift it out and use the small pan to clean something else. Overall it is okay. It requires a bit of trial and error or learning curve but definitely not much of a time saver. Does clean inside the case and primer pockets better than a tumbler but don’t expect brass to look new unless you plan on running it through for 5 or 6 hours.
