Reviews
Weaver Super Slam Dangerous Game Rifle Scope - 1-5x24mm 100-19.9' 4.25" Matte is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid value I don't own a dangerous game rifle, but I figured if this scope was designed to handle the recoil of a heavy African rig, it would handle the banging around a typical 3-gun sporter rifle takes. So far, so good. The multi-X reticle is fine enough for 3-gun work - but there are a couple of things to note. One, the magnification ring is very stiff, so switching back and forth quickly (as you might want to do in 3-gun) is difficult. And the min setting is, in reality, slightly less than 1X. So if you want to crank down to min and expect to be right at 1X, you'll be disappointed. The optics are very nice - nicer than any other scope I own, but this is also now the most expensive scope I own. I haven't weighed it, but it's heavier than most scopes that are physically larger. Again, seeing as it's supposed to survive when hunters really need it against big, unhappy animals, I'm guessing Weaver decided to over-build it rather than worry about weight. No arguments from me there. This scope has been discontinued and the Natchez price is very good - so there probably aren't many left. If you think it will fit your needs, get one while you can.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rugged and Works I purchased this to top off a Remington 700C ("Safari"). The .458 Win Mag chambering begs a scope that allows a lot of eye relief and stands up to the punishing recoil. This scope fills the bill. It is also bright and clear. I went with a Leopold QD set-up to mount it. I called Weaver and was advised that this scope did not have enough mass to require redoing the receiver to accept the beefier mounting screws (I do not recall the size/pitch off the top of my head, but know it is recommended in some situations). I was advised to use a good thread locker to keep the factory screws tight. The Tech also said that if the scope is properly mounted and the screws properly "locked", the factory holes in the receiver will provide a lifetime of service. I have a hundred or so full patch factory "safari" loads down the pipe and twice that many very "warm" 460gr cast loads launched and the scope and mounts are good as new. It was easy to zero and adjustments crisp and accurate. The zoom ring also feels like it is a high quality scope. It moves smoothly and definitively. Due to the intended use of this cartridge, my zero is only 25yds. But I am confident it would perform at longer ranges. If you want an affordable dangerous game optic and can live without a fancy European name, this is a good choice.

Sounds like a great scope and it's a Weaver. Why so cheap?

Asked by: 2ndHandLion
We bought a large shipment of them and got a good deal on them from Weaver.
